The Nikon Z9 Will Orbit the Moon on Artemis II — Crew member Hansen: "We fought pretty hard to have that specific camera on the mission"

While the Nikon user in me says “Z9 ftw” the space exploration aspect for humanity makes me happy that they got cameras with them regardless of the brand.

What is it with Nikon and Social Media

No one over the age of 16 should be taking social media or 'techtuber' influencers seriously. They're just long form advertisers. Buy whatever suits your needs. I wasn't a fan of Nikon's first gen mirrorless cameras and didn't buy them. But once the Z9/Z8 came out, I was more than happy to switch ov

Artemis II crew take 'spectacular' image of Earth

According to NASA's site they've got a Nikon D5, Nikkor 14-24mm 2.8 ED and the 80-400 f/4.5-5.6 ED VR 10+ year old camera kit there, though certainly nothing bad, they'll get great photos (as already seen!) Kinda wish they'd snuck a Z9 onboard with some modern Z lenses to get even better photos. Tha

Artemis astronauts comments on D5 vs Z9, and the 400mm

I just personally love how these astronauts are using two of the most capable cameras produced by Nikon and comparing and contrasting the image quality, and it's not a 15 sec sound byte of some dude who just says "DSLR's are dead! Look, this has a-bajillion Megapixels, and this thing only has 20! Th

What camera did they use?

D5, something to do with it being more thoroughly tested by NASA - I get not choosing the Z9, there have been lots of updates, and rolling shutter might be an issue in space somehow. Really I think that this would be a place where the a1ii absolutely shines, it's so small compared to the other flags

He's dead, Jim (D500 replacements?).

No Z8 II soon, it will be at least a year after a Z9II, and the only pro Z cameras (settings banks like you're used to) are the Z8 and Z9. The highest-end DX Z body is the Z50II, which is a D5x00 replacement camera and not nearly up to the pro standards. Why not just send it to Nikon and use their f

Nikon 2026

All speculation. I doubt we will get a z7iii. Nikon expected the z7 and z6 to sell equally well, but the z6 line consistently performed better than the 7 through the first two generations. Given the price difference that will have been disappointing. With the z8/9, they took the more 'traditional' (

D850 to mirrorless?

Well, I have a couple of D850s still, but I moved to Z9's when they first came out for a few reasons, and it's an absolutely incredible camera. I do a lot of stuff where I really need the speed, and video things where the new features come in handy. And even though most of the current primes were no

New High Resolution Image of The Earth taken by the Artemis II astronauts.

This was likely shot with one of the Nikon Z9s they have onboard. In which case, I'd say this is likely largely unaltered, to the extent possible. EDIT: Someone has provided a link and EXIF data, it was shot with a D5, with both a long exposure and high ISO. It's probably had a fair bit of noise red

DSLR MP question

The D5 is actually still Nikon's best low-light camera - it's even better than the D6 at high ISO, and is about 2/3 of a stop better than a Z9 above ISO 2000. However, it's noticeably worse under ISO 200, even compared to a D750 or D850. EDIT: actually D6 has the same sensor. PhotonsToPhotos shows t
