A cursory comparison review of the Nikon Z9 and Sony A7M5 for bird photography
I’ve shot the Sony A1 and the Z9, both with 600mm f/4 native glass side by side. Both can miss focus when shooting birds in flight. Buy either system and learn it well and you wont be disappointed. Ignore the static on YouTube and forums, it’s all agenda driven. You don’t see professionals complaini

Anyone who says Fuji can’t be used for sports is crazy
i think the whole thing about fuji autofocus being bad is a meme. i have no doubt you’re getting good hit rates with indoor basketball, just as i’m getting good hit rates with birds in flight. i have a sony a1 ii and the difference with my x-t5 isn’t that noticeable for real world stuff. but i’m not

Leica M11/M11-P as a Dad-Cam/Family Cam?
agree, i can get same amount of good images for kids from m10 compared to sony a1. mf with range finder is not bad and the whole process is much more joyful. also for sony you likely will take thousands of images for a two hours event, nightmare for post processing.

DSLR or Mirrorless? What Camera Are You Using and Why?
I started shooting back in 1999, long before mirrorless was a thing. My roots were in Canon SLRs and later high-end DSLRs, and I shot pretty much everything over the years. Sports, landscapes, portraits, studio work. I was using serious bodies at the time like the Canon EOS 3 and later EOS-1D, 5D se

Considering switching Nikon to canon
If you want a big upgrade over Nikon in terms of AF and you like the idea of a 28-70 2.0 Then Sony is actually where I would suggest moving. I personally felt that Nikons AF on mirrorless was a hair better than Canon, but neither are as good as Sony. That said I am a sony shooter so that might be a

How is the autofocus on the Z6iii and Z5ii?
Short answer: generally, yes, Nikon's latest generation of cameras is going to be better than any Sony APS-C body at AF. Long answer: about 5 years ago AF in mirrorless made a generational leap in performance, the first since we got PDAF on-sensor with the Nikon V1/J1, and saw significant improvemen

Would You Have Liked The Leica M EV1 If It Had An Autofocus Mount?
In the context of “zone focusing is faster than auto focus” is what I was referring to. I love my Leicas, by a Sony GM prime wide open on my A1 will always be faster than me on Leica. Zone focusing is a technique with narrow applicability.

Which one to keep?
My first mirrorless camera was a Sony A7III. Purchasing it was a big deal since I had been a Canon shooter since I was in the 7th grade. There is no doubt the A7III is objectively the better piece of equipment for 90% of shooting situations. After about a year with the A7III I bought the EOS R to gi

If you had to rebuy into an ecosystem in this year what would you choose?
I needed a new body and wasn't very heavily invested in the Canon ecosystem anyway (only owned two lenses). At that time, I'd already been using a Sony RX100 point & shoot, and they had just released the second gen of their very well reviewed A7R. At that time, I wanted megapixels and full frame mir

Sl typ 601 vs Dlux8
The original SL’s autofocus is not that good, I’d only get it for adapting m glass. Personally I wouldnt use the dlux for paid gigs as well, it’s a good camera for edc but I personally went with a GR. Also consider a Leica q/q2. Go with an older dlux if you want that form factor for daily use. Keep
