Vezi r/homelab .

Did this as well. I got a synology 920+ with two 10TB drives. Have been using them for 3 years. It also doubles as my Plex media server as well. Worth the 700 or so upfront cost. I'll probably add two more 14TB drives at the end of the year.

Do you do regular data scrubbing to verify data integrity? Have you touched (replaced or upgraded) RAM recently? I used to have DS920+ and while it was great due to having iGPU and video codecs, it lacked ECC support for RAM, so I got rid of it for DS1522+. Don't forget all data goes through system

Well done Synology for continuing to push away users.I have a 420j and a 920+ which I have upgraded several times buying NAS drives at the right time and price, if forced to use Synology drives at a significantly higher price per tb then I would have not gone with Synology from the start. I now have

I was really hoping to get the 1825 as an upgrade from my DS920+ since I need more storage. Unfortunately, I’ll be going the Ugreen route with TrueNAS later this year instead. By the way, great job, I really enjoy your videos even the latest for me sad videos about current synology state. Maybe you

Sharing my story here as I am getting desperate now with my situation. I bought my DS920+ around Sept 2022 and it supposedly came with a 3 year warranty. Come January this year, one of my HDD's failed and bought a replacement hard drive. As I hooked it up to power it started doing the RAID rebuilt,

I was very close to getting a Synology NAS, but when the 923+ came out and had some downsides Vs 920+ it made me hesitant. I've sat on the fence for a couple of years looking at different releases. Since the DS925+ has underwhelming hardware and seems even more locked down, I've just gone for a ugre

Have you ruled the psu being a problem? Rather cheap to try with a non-synology power supply with the same specs. On both my ds920+ and ds916+ I had the original psu fail and hence replaced them. Working fine since, while the original ones lead to unexpected shutdowns, issue to power it on needing m

Synology NAS hardware works with Time Machine over the network. Buy a Synology case, drop a suitable drive or drives in it and after a few minutes of setup, you are ready. They even support cloning the data to cloud storage for automatic offsite backups - for an added fee of course. Most NAS support
