G4SE extender
The other advice you got was bad. Hope im not too late. There is nothing wrong with you g4se modem. Its what I use and plan on using for years to come. It has the external antenna port that I have hooked up to a waveform antenna. If your internet wasn't good enough that is what id have you do. Get a

Google nest mesh or something else?
Brother in law upgraded his old nest to the new, both were flaky and dropping connected units. I gave him my deco X55 ax 3000 three piece set and he hasn't had any trouble, nor did I. I upgraded to unifi system for extra control/features.

What makes you abandon your quest?
i use a tplink Deco X55 which is crazy fast and easy to setup. Its made for mesh but can run single. It also has 3x gigabit Ethernet which can be useful. With a x55 i can stream virtual desktop (the app) at 90 to 120fps or as much as my pic can handle. I get gigabit speeds with wifi 6 devices

Terrible Customer Service
I have 2 Deco X55 units. The December update added the QoS option, which was activated by default. It caused a lot of connectivity problems. I disabled QoS by going to Settings -> More. I still see the main unit's red light go on for a few seconds sometimes, but there is no loss of connectivity.

Shaw Airpods versus TPLink Deco
I recently switched to Rogers/Shaw 1G from Telus due to cost. I was getting good speeds 800+ near the Rogers router, but the pods were unreliable. They seemed to drop out constantly and I would have trouble reconnecting my iPhone. I would wake up every day with no connection and have to go stand bes

need help
For the best connection you need to connect from router to your devices by ethernet, if you go from Main Access Point to upstairs via WiFi and then from there to xbox via ethernet, then you will probably still have a bottleneck with slow speeds at the WiFi connection. What is your current WiFi device

Easy password for my wi-fi
My DECO x55 lets me create a super simple wifi password.. the chance that a neighbor wants to hack it is zero so im not afraid of that vector. Is it a warning or doesn't it let you save it ?

Can I cancel "WholeHome Wi-Fi Device" and use my own router?
Yup. I'm using 3 Deco X55's - one as a router and the other two as wired access points

Deco x55 issues
I would definitely put the Xfinity router as modem only mode (bridge Mode) and use one of your X55 as a router. Let the Deco do its job Xfinity Modem -> Deco X55 as router - > gigabit switch - > Wiredback haul to all your pucks !

Ultra Fast 1000Mbps/50Mbps ABB Plan - 80/48 Actual
Your deco X55 can be your router. I have a x50-dsl as my router on FTTP (bought the DSL version before free FTTP upgrade)
