Questions on best speakers for this set up
You wanna match the retro style of the NAD C 3050? If so, Wharfedale Super Denton would fit your budget. https://www.wharfedaleusa.com/collections/bookshelf-speakers/products/super-denton-bookshelf-speakers-pair If you have the space for them, Wharfedale Linton 85th https://www.wharfedaleusa.com/pro

Looking for Speaker Recommendations
I think if you like the look of the L52’s they are a good option. I would also check out the Wharfedale Denton 85’s as another vintage looking great sounding option.

Bookshelf speakers my mother could tolerate? $1.5-3k budget
My first thought was the KEF LS50 Metas. Second would be Wharfedale Super Dentons.

Retro Looking Commercial Speakers
Separate 70V transformers driving HiFi cabinets may be your best bet here. If you want the old school look Wharfedale Super Denton or JBL L52 would both be really cool retro-looking cabinets to mount 70V transformers behind. EVID 4.2 or 6.2 are still really popular too for a cool looking speaker tha

Speaker Upgrade from Wharfedale Denton 80th
Hi there! I also like the Denton 80th, even if they don't have the most neutral sound and some other shortcomings. One of those is that they have some noticeable directivity errors from about 600Hz upwards (mids, upper mids) all the way into the highest treble regions (20kHz). See frequency response

Getting it right the first time isn't possible, but I want to get as close as I can within my budget.
I'm a Yamaha fanboy, but I have to agree on the Wiim Amp Ultra and second-hand speakers. You can find some absolutely killer stuff out there if you're patient. What I would do in the meantime is go listen to different SOUNDING types of speakers to see what you like. Some speakers are bright. Some ar

Upgrading Long Time Set Up
Any thoughts to looking at other turntable manufacturers other than Audio Technica? Rega Planar 2 or 3 would be fantastic or looking for a vintage Technics turntable would also be great. While the AT-LP3 will be better than AT-LP60 in my opinion going to a Rega P2 or P3 or a vintage Technics would b

Modern Speakers with a vintage sound?
Many speaker companies do a vintage line now. The contemporary Wharfedale Linton and Denton lineup are based on their classic speakers. Whether they sound 'vintage' is arguable. But they do sound amazing.

Is KEF LSX II the right one for me?
For about the same price you can get a WiiM amp and Wharfedale Denton 80th speakers, and you’ll have a setup that’s just simply better in every way - connectivity, aesthetics, but most of all sound.

Upgraded my system after 15 years, and I’m not impressed.
Good morning, I would definitely try the Sony speakers hooked to the Yamaha amp to see if I don’t like the speakers or the amp in the next few days. The Wiim Ultra looks interesting and maybe it’s my only solution to having an EQ for both the Phono and Line inputs at the same time, not interested on
