Xteink X3 Live Now

This may be a bit of a rant but here’s my perspective: The product XTEINK are busy selling is a small e-ink screen, not a book reader. The device is really cool because it’s minimalistic and pocketable but in order to be a book reader it lacks: decent epub rendering capability: it improved recently

X4teink vs M5 paper S3

Yes I own both. Xteink X4 is a e reader device and it is meant for reading ebooks. The screen is brighter, more contrast, its size is ergonomic enough to hold and press jts button. M5 Paper S3 is an eink device and it can support many other use-cases than reading ebooks. It has touch screen but the

Best pocket-sized e-ink eReader? No note-taking required

Real pocketsize comes with the xteink x4. It has a own subreddit. Fantastic device. Not for beginners and the use of calibre is necessary, but totaly worth it!

Easiest/cheapest?

Seconding the posts suggesting looking at second-hand readers - e-readers have fragile screens but otherwise it’s tech that holds up well, so a second-hand Kindle or Kobo or PocketBook that is in a decent shape (the screen is intact) will be fine for this purpose. Even very old ones (15 years old) s

Curious about the Xteink X4? Here's a full review.

I've got one in the mail because I love the concept, but the Y-Ben P47L is probably the more sensible choice for most people (although the battery life is terrible). The Xteink S4 is apparently going to be android based, but given the weight bump to 100g I think I'll stick with the P47L. I wish we h

ARE YOU GOING TO BLOCK ANY FIRMWARE MODIFICATIONS?

Maybe some clarity is needed to help the u/xteink team understand this discussion better. The unique value presented by the X3 and X4 products is their industrial design / aesthetics that cannot easily be replicated by a DIY PCB and 3D printer. These slim, "feel good in your hands" designs require l

Questions before I buy

Can you read books on the X4 via Onleihe (the German system for library books)? If you mean your local library's ebook lending system (German or otherwise), the answer's almost certainly NO. For that to happen, someone who knows the inner workings of the library system needs to write custom firmware

Which eReader

The FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH and Piracy subs have megathreads where you can find websites to get ebooks from. I suggest you check those out. From what I've seen, colored e-readers aren't recommended since they have a poorer tech quality. Complaints of text being less sharp and more blurry compared to non c

X4 Alternatives

Xteink x4 needs a better casing I seen some on Etsy that are better than the one that the company website is selling. Obook5 has a backlight it's okay if you need a mini E-reader from what I'm gathering and definitely more durable in comparison to x4 plus it has buttons and it's a touch screen, I he
