At this point, it's like asking if the Camaro ZL1 or Mustang GT500 is the best choice. They're both great. They'll both do even better with some tweaking. I have an R7 that, now that I've updated the firmware and tweaked the settings for my area, is absolutely awesome.

You're absolutely right - but as someone who shot wildlife on an old DSLR and a tiny EF-S telephoto lens for 3 years - good glass and modern AF are things I wish I'd invested in years ago. After the Canon 6D Mark II and the Canon EOS R, the Canon EOS R7 is here, and there couldn't have been a better model posing on a clothespin to test it out, with a Sigma 105 macro lens... Just starting out been building equipment for a while, I'm saving for a dedicated astro camera, but for now, stuck with my unmodified DSLM.
This is the first shot that I can say I'm really proud of!
