Feeling Defeated / DH2300
I defer to others that know best but everything I have read suggests that you want a better processor in a NAS than the 2300 contains if you want to use it for media streaming. The 2300 is meant more for storage, backups, and the like. That being said, others have made it work. Here is another threa

What a joke!
Honestly the cpu on the ugreen NAS isn’t anything special for AI use. Just a middle of the road intel processor. If AI is your primary goal I’d look elsewhere

Nvme cache: what’s the benefit?
Great question about NVMe cache! Let’s break down your points and clarify what’s true based on how NVMe caching works in UGREEN NASync systems. Faster Media/File Loading: True! NVMe cache (using M.2 NVMe SSDs) stores frequently accessed data, like media files or photos, on super-fast SSDs instead of

Raid 1 to 5 explansion
I’m not sure what model UGreen NAS you have but I suspect all UGreen NAS models running on x86 / x64 Intel processors / SoC will do exactly what you want without modification . You cited use case has modest requirements. That is to say that stock configurations shouldn’t need more than the default R

NAS Recommendation For Photographer/Doctor (EU)
I was thinking UGreen DH4300 Plus and 4x WD HC530 14TB. WDs are really cheap compared to others and have a really good track record. I chose ugreen because it has a modern processor (although rockchip) and has 8GB ram. Is there a reason you went with DXP4800?

Is a UGREEN DH4300 Plus Enough?
mostly watching mkv files through Jellyfin to my local smart TVs. I dont really anticipate having multiple users or other devices such as smartphones or tablets. Essentially you're asking its ability to transcode a single stream. The "other devices such as smartphones or tablets" is a red herring be

What’s the trade off?
I just bought a new NAS for home use for photo and file storage. I considered Synology as they have a more complete/mature platform. But I refused to buy with their HDD lock-in. And their technology seems dated. Instead I opted for a UGREEN DH4300+. So far (a week in) it works well. I’m just getting

First build
Question: is the NAS going to be running your Jellyfin server entirely? As in installing Jellyfin onto it and storing your media there, streaming using the NAS’s native hardware? If the answer is yes, then no. A dh2300 will not be able to transcode anywhere near the amount of an Intel cpu or having

Problem with Plex streaming with my NAS
It’s definitely your WD mate. I had the same issues. Had a WD EX2 Ultra that stuttered Plex. It was pretty bad when used on native TV Apps. The Amazon FireCube played most items pretty well without the need for the WD transcoding, but was hit and miss for large files. Upgraded to a UGreen NAS and it

Need to upgrade
Get a ugreen nas. More bang for your buck. I've had a synology nas for like 10+ years but decided this time to go for the ugreen 4800 as the specs are way better for a similar price
