You're talking about a drive for storage. If your motherboard will support it, you should get an NVMe SSD. These are much faster than the older drives. The Samsung 970 Evo Plus and the WD SN770 are both good models. If your computer is a little older, you should get a SATA SSD like the Crucial MX500

Is this a good build
You're paying extra for RAM and SSD. You should buy 32 gigs of DDR5-6000 CL30 RAM for ~$110 and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD (like the WD Black SN770 or similar) for ~$70. You should also change the PSU to a better quality power supply that has 750W or 850W capacity like the Corsair RMx or Seasonic Focus prod

1K budget 1080P PC for a friend
Your list is very solid, nothing is "wrong".The GPU is a bit Overkill for the games you listed, i would recommend a rx 6700 xt or rx 7600 instead. Also, your SSD is pretty high end, for gaming you wont notice the difference. Good alternatives are the: WD SN770, Crucial P3 Plus or a Kingston NV2. BUT

SSD recommendation for first Gaming PC?
To be honest for gaming you do not need to spend big bucks on SSDs. SN770, MP44L, WD Blue SN580 and Crucial P3 Plus are all excellent value picks. I'd avoid the NV3 as a main drive if I could though. Good for budget storage but not something I would choose for a primary gaming build myself.

Msi thin 15
for the thin 15 you'll want a single sided nvme drive since clearance is tight in there. the samsung 980 runs cool and fits perfectly - used that in a similar chassis. western digital sn770 is another solid pick if you want to save a bit. just avoid drives with heatsinks or double sided nand, they w

Is this 2tb nvme worth buying? My old one died..
It’s a pcie gen 4 WD Black Sn770 for 200USD. I personally would go for it, if the budget allowed.

1440p 7800X3D + 9070XT build (£1500–£1800 UK). Any weak points?
The 7800X3D and 9070 XT is one of the best 1440p pairings available right now and the rest of the components support it well. On CL36 vs CL30, you're correct. The real world gaming difference is 1-3% at best, not worth paying a significant premium for. The Crucial Pro at DDR5-6000 CL36 is a sensible

Newbie Question
You won't notice the difference in performance between the 990 Pro and T500 gaming SSDs (they're considered overkill). The NV2 will do the job, but its quality is average and it's a bit of a gamble. The most sensible options are mid-to-high-end SSDs like the WD SN770 P3 Plus or KC3000. The 990 Pro i
