What shutter speeds do you use for hummingbirds?
Just about nothing anybody said in the replies is true. The image below was shot with a Canon R6 II and EF 100-400L II. ISO 3200, 1/5000th, f/5.6, 400mm, using the electronic shutter. It obviously works. I've shot some as low as 1/500th. Below 1/3200th you're going to get into some wing blur, but th

Canon adds a 32-megapixel sensor and 7K video to the new EOS R6 Mark III
I will buy it. My R6 is getting old and I am doing more weddings now and want a second camera body rather than just renting one to have redundant equipment when I shoot a wedding. My only real disappointments with the announcement: No real improvement in the sensor read out speed from the mark ii. I

Best camera for sports action
The only Fujifilm that comes close to what you have is the X-H2s, the only stacked sensor Fuji body. All other Fuji bodies have slow sensor read speeds, making them less than ideal for sports at a high frame rate. Of course you can shoot mechanical shutter, but that doesn't help the AF. The Fuji AF

Should I switch from Fuji to Nikon?
i learned on an AE-1... the whole retro thing makes very little sense to me i have an X100VI but i like it for its size and what it can do in that small and easy to use package...not the way it looks DP review compared the Zf to a few other cameras The Canon EOS R6 II is still the camera to beat in

Bird photography while hiking
I'll pipe in here. I'm another geologist who's also an avid photographer. I have shot Canon for a while, moving from a 80D to a 5DIV to mirrorless with a R6 and now an R5 (Careful.... gear acquisition can be contagious). However, for the small, light and compact lenses there are very few. I went on

Upgrading Photo Team Gear - Seeking Canon Mirrorless Recommendations
I like the cropping capabilities of the R5 and their use in studio work, but the large file sizes are mostly a hassle, and thus the reason I was interested in the R6's. file size isn't the priority, what you want is the best autofocus for sports, which always means fully stacked sensors, like the r3

Screw new gear, why aren’t we all just buying our dream cameras from 7 / 8 years ago? They’re cheap.
No... I would strongly disagree with that. An R6 II is a far more capable landscape body too. There's truly no need to set up a tripod to do exposure bracketed shots. As for macro work, the focus bracketing feature takes the time and guess work out of it. For shooting performing artists, you basical

Double down on Canon while moving to interview filming from photography?
You have pretty great camera for docs really, and w24-70 is great too The main problem with canon is that it’s expensive not underperforming. Now if you wanted 2 more R6ii or r6iii and 3x24-70… it gets pricy. R5m1 is overheating but the rest is rather fine. I doubt 70-200 will be that useful but wit

Z7II vs Z8?
I haven't shot with either, but honestly, if you're happy with Zf, the Z5II is basically the same camera with better ergonomics, but without the cool retro styling. Z6III is, from what I've read, better in some ways, worse in others. Specifically, the partially stacked sensor is good enough to shoot
