HD 280 Pro

I'll always echo a Sennheiser HD280 suggestion. I've had mine for six years now and they've been great.

Sennheiser HD-280 Pro is available at the top of that range. I've been very happy with mine.

Sennheiser HD 280 or 300 Pro are good but more than you want to spend. I doubt you'll be happy in that price range. I personally have the 300s.

Personally, I still use the Sennheiser HD 410's I bought in 1983. However, my 410's use foam ear pads, so there can be some bleed over when using them in the studio. Given that, if I were to recommend a set of headphones for recording and general playing, it would be the Sennheiser 280. Decent price
